Hunting Kodiak Island
Hunting Kodiak Island is one of the most unforgettable experiences that you can experience. The mystic of Kodiak adds so much to your adventures.
Early in the season the alpine hunt is the best chance of finding large bucks and mountain goats. It takes about a day to access the high country, unless you choose to be dropped on top with a bush plane and hunt your way down. Note however, only Alaska Residents are allowed to take Mountain Goats and Brown Bear.
From about mid-October to early-November, the bucks can be anywhere on the mountain. When the rut starts, they are usually on the lower half chasing does.
The quality of mature Sitka Blacktail in our hunt area is unsurpassed. If you are willing to put in the effort, your chances of finding a great buck are very good. You are responsible for all meat and trophy care. Non-Alaska residents are now limited to one buck.
Self Guided Adventures
Our Self Guided Do It Yourself Hunt is a true adventure. You will base out of our lodge and enjoy the comforts of having a warm, dry and safe base camp. That is unless you decide to up the adventure factor and hunt the Alpine from a backpack spike camp!
Our package for Self Guided Hunts include lodging for up to six. You will also be provided a 16-foot bay skiff to provide your own transportation. At least one member of your party needs to take the US Coast Guard Safe Boater course. This short course is required by our insurance provider and is a great short course offered nationwide. It is required for the skiff operators in your group.
